Pascha – The Resurrection of Christ

Aired 2009-10. Presented by the National Council of Churches USA; Produced by Greek Orthodox ChurchUSA For Greek Orthodox Christians around the world, Pascha, or Easter, is celebrated with ancient services that recount the Gospel narrative of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This one-hour special will highlight Great and Holy Friday, including a procession with the embroidered tapestry of Christ in the grave (the Epitaphios); the Resurrection Service on Saturday evening at midnight, with awe-inspiring hymnology and rich visual symbolism; and the Resurrection Service, with its procession to the exterior of the Church, with the joyous hymn “Christ is Risen!”
